Unless Robert Kennedy Jr. pulls off the political upset of the century and defeats Joe Biden in the Democratic primary, the incumbent will be the Democratic nominee in 2024. Despite his advanced age (he would be 81 if he assumes an eventual second term), polls indicate he is the most competitive option against the Republicans. However, as part of a contingency plan, it is expected that Kamala Harris receive a large amount of money from a political action committee (PAC) going into the 2024 election.

The president took some time recently to confirm his intentions to run for a second term. Until April 25, 2023, speculation was endless, and many pointed to the vice president taking his place, despite a low acceptance rating among voters.

Harris sought the presidency in 2020 without much success. After drawing attention for her criticism of Biden in the debates, she withdrew her candidacy before the primaries began due to a lack of popular support and enthusiasm among donors. At the time, she was chastised by the press, which commented on her lack of magnetism with African-American voters and ambiguous positions on many issues, such as health care.

“Tens of millions” for Kamala

It turns out that one of the most influential groups in the country is ready to make a significant disbursement to the vice president in the run-up to the presidential elections. It is EMILY’s List: a PAC focused on finding female candidates who support abortion rights. The PAC said it will spend “tens of millions of dollars” to advocate for and support the vice president during the 2024 election.

Such an investment is unprecedented for a sitting vice president and will be focused on reminding voters of Harris’ record.

As she confessed to POLITICO, Laphonza Butler, president of EMILY’s List, stated that “We’re going to tell the story about who she is, what she’s done, support her at every turn and really push back against the massive misinformation and disinformation that’s been directed towards her since she’s been elected.”

The group already poured $10 million into helping the then-candidate after she was confirmed as Biden’s 2020 running mate. In addition, the PAC currently manages the Twitter account Madame President, which aims to promote her figure through articles, videos and messages.

The former senator’s popularity began to fall after her boss put her in charge of the delicate situation on the southern border at the beginning of 2021. Since then, her image has plummeted. For example, her approval numbers have not recovered since September 2021, and she continuously measured far lower than President Biden. According to the Real Clear Politics polling average, she is currently 5 % behind Biden.
