Both Elon Musk and John Bolton predict Trump's arrest could catapult the former president to re-election

The CEO of Twitter believes that the former president could achieve a "landslide" victory if he were to be arrested.

After Donald Trump said publicly that he could be arrested next week, several politicians and pundits have spoken out and even predicted that being arrested could lead him to winning re-election.

The former U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton was among those who shared on Saturday that New York prosecutors should be very sure of their case before arresting Trump, since he believes that if he is indicted and not convicted, it will give him a presidential victory.

"Having very much in mind the one rule of law for everybody, if they indict and fail to convict in New York, I think historians will look back and say that this is the act that re-elected Donald Trump president (...) So I hope those prosecutors in New York are very, very certain of their case," he said.

Twitter CEO Elon Musk agreed that the former president's arrest could lead him to a "landslide" victory in the 2024 presidential election.

Musk posted on Twitter, "If this happens, Trump will be re-elected in a landslide victory.”

From "abuse of power" to "un-American," politicians react to Trump's possible arrest

Other politicians stated that such a decision would reflect the "abuse of power" and "political vengeance" against Donald Trump.

"Here we go again — an outrageous abuse of power by a radical DA who lets violent criminals walk as he pursues political vengeance against President Trump," said Kevin McCarthy, Speaker of the House.

Texas Republican Congressman Chip Roy said that this indictment against Trump should be treated as a "politically-motivated prosecution based on a strained, convoluted legal theory."

"It makes clear the danger of a politicized "justice" system that will be (is being) weaponized against ALL Americans," he added.

Elise Stefanik, a congresswoman from New York, believes this decision stems from the fear that the left will fail to defeat Trump at the polls in 2024.

"This is un-American and the radical Left has reached a dangerous new low of Third World countries. Knowing they cannot beat President Trump at the ballot box, the Radical Left will now follow the lead of Socialist Dictators and reportedly arrest President Trump, the leading Republican candidate for President of the United States," she said.

Vivek Ramaswamy: "This will mark a dark moment in American history"

Trump's main Republican opponent for the 2024 presidential election, Vivek Ramaswamy, also spoke out about the possible arrest of the former president next Tuesday. In a video he uploaded to his Twitter profile, he said it is "un-American" to prosecute Trump. He also said it would make for "a dark moment in American history”:

It is un-American for the ruling party to use police power to arrest its political rivals. If a Republican prosecutor in 2004 had used a campaign finance technicality to arrest then-candidate John Kerry while Bush & Cheney were in power, liberals would have cried foul- and rightly so.
