Spy balloon: the House of Representatives unanimously condemns China
The GOP and the Democratic Party unite and declare the move "intolerable." They ask Biden to brief Congress on the progress of the investigation.
The Republican Party and the Democratic Party teamed up to condemn China for using spy balloons over U.S. territory. In a House vote held Thursday, lawmakers unanimously approved a GOP-led resolution calling it a "blatant violation of U.S. sovereignty" by the Chinese communist regime.
The resolution also requests that the Biden Administration report to Congress on all developments in the investigation. Michael McCaul, a Republican representative from Texas and chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, said:
The Democratic leader of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Gregory Meeks, said that "it is now up to Beijing to demonstrate not just to the United States but to the world that it is serious about respecting international rules and law."
Mike Rogers, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, pointed out China's intention for sending the spy balloon:
