The Republican Party and the Democratic Party teamed up to condemn China for using spy balloons over U.S. territory. In a House vote held Thursday, lawmakers unanimously approved a GOP-led resolution calling it a "blatant violation of U.S. sovereignty" by the Chinese communist regime.

The resolution also requests that the Biden Administration report to Congress on all developments in the investigation. Michael McCaul, a Republican representative from Texas and chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, said:

This resolution, I believe, sends a clear bipartisan signal to the CCP and our adversaries around the world that this action will not be tolerated.

The Democratic leader of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Gregory Meeks, said that "it is now up to Beijing to demonstrate not just to the United States but to the world that it is serious about respecting international rules and law."

Mike Rogers, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, pointed out China's intention for sending the spy balloon:

Make no mistake, that balloon was intentionally launched as a calculated show of force. We have to stop being naïve about the threat we face from China.
