In the presence of Joe Biden and Barack Obama, Pennsylvania Democratic senatorial candidate John Fetterman said during a campaign rally that he "celebrate[s] the demise of Roe v. Wade." The blunder once again called into question the state of his health after the stroke he suffered in May.

The Democratic candidate began his speech explaining the importance of defending abortion as a right for women in his political career, but he ended by saying the opposite: "I run on Roe v. Wade. I celebrate the demise of Roe v. Wade."

Doubts on Fetterman's health

It is not the first lapse Fetterman has had in this campaign, which has cast doubt on his ability to hold office should he defeat Republican rival Mehmet Oz. Fetterman suffered a stroke last May that has potentially caused lasting damage, which seemed especially evident in the televised debate with Oz a few days ago.

The lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania has seen his lead in the polls shrink down to a tie. Moreover, after the debate, some polls placed Dr. Oz in the lead.
