Amid the discourse of fear and tension promoted by Democratic leaders after Paul Pelosi's assault, Kari Lake opted for irony to respond to Hillary Clinton. The Republican candidate for governor of Arizona directed a tweet at the former secretary of state after Clinton singled her out as an example of a Republican mocking Nancy Pelosi's husband's assault.

Lake wrote "ATTN: Hillary Clinton: I am in perfect health, my brakes on my car are in good shape & I'm not suicidal. That is all." The tweet was accompanied by a clip of her during a television interview in which she utters these same words.

"The woman running in Arizona"

It is Lake's response to Clinton during a CNN interview in which she accused "the woman running in Arizona" (as Clinton referred to Lake, refusing to use her name) of having mocked the assault suffered by Paul Pelosi. According to Clinton, these taunts make her wonder, "What kind of person is that?" Clinton said that Republicans mocking Pelosi's assault are "a real indicator of where we are in our country right now."

Lake claims to be a victim of "creative editing"

Joking aside, Kari Lake wanted to make it clear that she never made fun of the attack on Pelosi and that the video where she allegedly jokes about it was out of context. Moreover, Lake says she is a victim of "creative editing," citing a leaked recording in which she claims she was not even talking about this issue. "I was talking about our children and why they don’t have better security. And I said that our politicians have security and that our athletes have security, and we need to have security. Go back and look at the tape and don’t do any creative editing, like the fake media tends to do, and you’ll see what I was saying." Lake said.
