The return of 'Mean Girls': Lindsay Lohan, guest of honor at the premiere of the new musical feature film

The actress attended the New York premiere of this updated version of the legendary film, which will feature the return of Tina Fey as Miss Norbury.

First it was an ad for Walmart. That was the first sign that "Mean Girls" might be back. Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert returned to play Cady Heron, Karen Smith and Gretchen Wieners to promote the offers that the supermarket chain offered during Black Friday. Not only them, part of the original cast of the film such as Daniel Franzese and Rajiv Surendra also participated in the spot.

Days later, the first trailer for the new "Mean Girls" was released. Paramount Pictures thus kicked off a marketing campaign that was resumed this Monday when Lindsay Lohan returned to be one of the "Mean Girls." This time as a guest at the New York premiere of the new film that opens this Friday, January 12 and is based on the popular Broadway musical.

During the event, held at the AMC Lincoln Square theater, the original Cady Heron met again with Tina Fey, who reprises her role as Miss Norbury in the new feature film and who, once again, serves as a screenwriter in this musical film. A new version that, Lohan told AP, she was excited to see: "It was an amazing movie to work on when I did it, and I can’t wait to see this new iterative version of it. I think it’s gonna be wonderful."

She also met the performer who now plays the role she originally played, actress Angourie Rice. The new Cady Heron explained to the news agency how she was inspired by Lohan's performance when it came to giving life to the iconical character again:

I loved Lindsay’s performance in the 2004 film so much, it’s one of my favorites. So in everything I did, I just hoped that my performance would be adding to the legacy that she started.
