Singer Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis Presley's only daughter, died this Thursday at the age of 54 after being hospitalized for cardiac arrest. Her mother, Priscilla Presley, confirmed Lisa Marie's death through a statement:

It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.

A lethal heart attack

An attendant at Lisa Marie's home found her passed out in her room unconscious and called paramedics and her ex-husband, Danny Keough, who arrived at the residence immediately.

The singer had suffered a heart attack, paramedics gave her epinephrine - adrenaline - on at least two occasions to try and help her regain a pulse. Minutes later, paramedics and her ex-husband managed to resuscitate her with CPR and she was rushed to the hospital, where she later passed, TMZ said.

It was Priscilla, who just a few hours before, reported through a publication which quickly spread across the social media networks, disclosed that her daughter had been rushed to the hospital and asked for prayers and "privacy" to all her followers:

My beloved daughter Lisa Marie was rushed to the hospital. She is now receiving the best care. Please keep her and our family in your prayers. We feel the prayers from around the world, and we ask for privacy during this time.

The Rock Princess

Lisa was a singer and actress and is known for being the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley. She was born on February 1, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee, and grew up in her father's home until she was four years old. The couple divorced and she moved in with her mother in Los Angeles. Although she remained in contact with Elvis, when she was 9 years old, the king of rock died of cardiac arrest, apparently associated with prescription drug abuse.

As a teenager, Lisa dropped out of high school and started using drugs. She was sent to the Scientology Celebrity Center rehabilitation center. And later, she took refuge in music, releasing her first album, To Whom It May Concern in 2003.

She was married four times (Danny Keough, Michael Jackson, Nicolas Cage and Michael Lockwood) and had four children. From her first union with Keough, they had a daughter, Danielle Riley, who is an accomplished actress; and Benjamin, who committed suicide at the age of 27 in October 2020, were born. Harper and Finley, twin daughters, are the fruit of her fourth marriage to musician Lockwood, from whom she separated in 2016 after 10 years together.

Lisa Marie spent the last years of her life with her children and working in the organizations and companies named after her father.

Last public appearance

Earlier this week, the King of Rock's daughter attended the Golden Globes with her mother, to accompany Austin Butler, the actor who gave life to Elvis Presley in a biopic and who won the award for Best Actor in a Drama Series.

When the actor went up to collect the award, he had some nice words of thanks for the two: "Thank you girls, thank you for opening your hearts to me, your memories, your home. Lisa Marie, Priscilla, I love you forever," Butler said at the end of his speech.

Celebrity reactions

Many celebrities on social media have spoken out about the death. Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, shared their condolences via Instagram. In a message with a photo of Marie they said they were"Absolutely broken" and " heartbroken by the loss."

Actress Octavia Spencer also confessed her sadness at the departure of Lisa Marie Presley.

John Travolta wrote on Instagram that he would miss Lisa and that his heart went out to his daughters and her mother. "Lisa little one, I am so sorry. I will miss you, but I know I will see you again. My love and my heart go out to Riley, Priscilla, Harper and Finley."

Elvis' ex, Linda Thompson, also shared an image of Elvis with Lisa Marie and wrote: "My heart is too heavy for words..."
