Attack in Rotterdam: At least two dead and several wounded after two shootings hospital fire

Police arrested a 32-year-old man and are investigating the motives behind the attack.

An unknown number of people were killed this Thursday in the European city of Rotterdam, Netherlands, according to police. Although there is still no official report with the exact number of deaths, police have confirmed that there have been multiple casualties.

Police reported two shootings in different locations. One of them took place in the vicinity of the Erasmus University Hospital. Although there are two incidents, police have only made one arrest at the moment. Police arrested a 32-year-old man and do not suspect that a second person was involved in this attack.

Images were shared on social media showing part of the medical center that was set on fire. Police reported that patients in the affected wing were evacuated.

According to the Dutch media De Telegraaf, the attack began at a home in the Delfshaven neighborhood. There, the shooter reportedly killed two people. After this, the suspect traveled a little over half a mile away to the Erasmus University Hospital. A second shooting took place in a classroom at the Medical School. According to the newspaper, one faculty member was killed. Shortly after, the medical center burst into flames.

The Dutch Police announced on X (formerly Twitter) that they will provide more details about the attack once things calm down. The motives behind the attack are still unknown.
