Voz Media regained access to its Twitter account this Friday, April 7, after a ban that dates back to last March 29. On that day, the social network blocked Voz Media’s account when it was trying to report on the Trans Day of Vengeance.
Voz Media's social media team uploaded the article about this demonstration to the platform. It was a relevant event that was to occur shortly after the murder of three children and three adults at a Christian school in Nashville, Tenn. by a trans person. The call for this act of hate, which was ultimately cancelled, provoked a huge controversy, and Twitter decided to act in the way that was usual on the platform before the arrival of Elon Musk: censoring content and blocking accounts.
At the time, Twitter Head of Security and Trust Ella Irwin openly acknowledged that they removed all posts that shared the poster announcing the day because, in her words, "we do not support tweets that incite violence irrespective of who posts them." This is the poster in question, which advertised the controversial Trans Day of Vengeance.
Twitter offered Voz Media the chance to delete the tweet to have its account reinstated. However, Voz Media refuses to censor itself because in no case did it advocate for this event. In fact, on the contrary, it warned about the dangers. The result was a ban that lasted for almost ten days with the accompanying gravity and the damage for the digital media platform.
The director of Voz Media, Mario Noya, explained on Mega TV the situation of the ban and the firm stance the platform takes regarding its obligation to inform its followers.
In his appearance on Mega TV, Noya also regretted that the decision taken by Twitter showed that the social network had not substantially changed the censorship policies it employed before the arrival of Elon Musk. The director of Voz Media recalled what Musk thought of these practices when he was not yet running the company.
Indeed! Best way to fight misinformation is to respond with accurate information, not censorship.

Nevertheless, days went by and Voz Media's account remained blocked despite complaints and appeals.
Finally, Voz Media recovers its Twitter account
This Friday, Voz Media CCO Pablo Kleinman once again publicly denounced the situation, demanding solutions from Twitter's security team and directly calling on Elon Musk to put an end to the ban.
after more than a week, the @twitter account for @VozMediaUSA continues to be blocked because we have refused to self-censor our reporting on trans vengeance day. shame on @TwitterSafety and @ellagirwin's team. @elonmusk please help! https://t.co/42rlxw3pbp

It seems that this time the requests were heard, because since Friday morning, Voz Media was allowed back on Twitter to continue informing you promptly of everything that happens around you, without self-censorship and without fear. We will continue to tell the whole truth as we have been doing so far. WE ARE BACK.
Finalmente nos han desbloqueado la cuenta y continuaremos contando toda la verdad como hasta ahora.
Our account has finally been unblocked and we will continue to tell all the truth as we have until now.
