Twitter is now X

The social network changes its brand identity with modifications to its logo, name and some functions.

People will no longer post tweets. It is not yet clear what the action will be called when interacting on Elon Musk's social network, which the tech mogul officially renamed X. The iconic blue bird is being replaced by a white X. Musk announced this change a few days ago.

Both he and the CEO of the social network, Linda Yaccarino, announced it on their profiles. To celebrate the beginning of the new phase, the new logo, an X, was projected on the facade of the company's headquarters. The "x.com" domain also takes users to "twitter.com," which will probably change in the next few days to a new one.

The decision is an important step for the social network. From an aesthetic point of view, the letter X harmonizes somewhat with the rest of Musk's brands, who said the letter X is his favorite. It can be seen in SpaceX or in the newly announced artificial intelligence xAI.

According to Linda Yaccarino, this is an opportunity to give the brand a second chance. "It's an exceptionally rare thing, in life or in business, that you get a second chance to make another big impression. Twitter made one massive impression and changed the way we communicate. Now, X will go further, transforming the global town square," Yaccarino posted on X. The CEO also added there are no limits to the transformation of X, which leaves the door open for further changes.

The name is not the only thing that will change in X. The social network also integrated tools for the job market. Similar to LinkedIn, X users will be able to access "Hirings," an option for paid subscribers to post job openings. Along with "Hirings" also comes "Articles," which will allow users to publish long texts with video and images under blog post format.

According to Elon Musk, users will even be able to upload. There will also be some changes regarding direct messaging, which will be limited to users who do not have payment verification. According to the social network, this is an effort to limit spam.

Despite the transformations undertaken, the social network remains a source of financial losses for its owners. This is something that Elon Musk has promised to tackle. He started by laying off a good part of the then-Twitter staff and continued with the payment system for verifications and subscriptions.
