After it was leaked that Sports Illustrated used artificial intelligence (AI) to create content, the publication's CEO, Ross Levinsohn, has been fired by the board of its parent company, Arena Group.
Arena Group initially objected to a report released by the media outlet Futurism in which it detailed that Sports Illustrated created fictitious authors using AI to write articles and product descriptions, saying that it was "not accurate."
However, the management of the parent company has decided to get rid of Levinsohn anyway so that the problem does not have a more damaging scope for the company and the sports magazine.
Arena Group said it made the decision to "improve the operational efficiency and revenue of the company," as reported by The Hill.
Until his replacement is appointed, the position will be held on an interim basis by Manoj Bhargava.
