Russia accidentally bombed its own village while intending to attack Ukraine

The Russian Defense Ministry said the warplane was forced to make an "emergency release of aviation munitions."

This Tuesday, a Russian warplane accidentally bombed the village of Petropavlovka in the Voronezh region, approximately 150 kilometers east of the Russian-Ukrainian border. The incident took place during an all-out assault by the Kremlin on major Ukrainian cities.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that the aircraft was forced to make an "emergency release of aviation munitions" around 9:00 a.m. on January 2. Although the ministry assured that there were no casualties caused by the accidental bombing, at least six buildings were affected in Petropavlovka.

According to the Ministry of Defense, a commission of inquiry has already been appointed to evaluate the incident's circumstances and the nature of the damage.

After the bombing, the governor of Voronezh, Aleksander Gusev, expressed his commitment to guarantee everything related to compensation payments and new housing construction. "Our commitment is to ensure no one is overlooked," he said.

Meanwhile, Russia continues its attacks with hypersonic ballistic missiles against two large Ukrainian cities: Kyiv and Kharkiv. On the morning of January 2 alone, Russia attacked Ukraine with 99 missiles.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced that four civilians have already been killed in the recent attacks, and more than 90 people have been injured. "Russia will be held accountable for every life lost. Glory to Ukraine!" proclaimed the Ukrainian president as the conflict nears the end of its second year.

It should be noted that last Friday, Russia carried out the largest missile attack against Ukraine since the start of the war. Approximately 41 civilians died as a result of that bombing, and Russia has already promised to intensify attacks against Ukrainian military targets to end the conflict quickly.
