Passenger train derails after colliding with a semi truck near Tampa, Fla.

The truck, which was transporting cars, was parked on the tracks.

A passenger train struck a semi truck and derailed in Lakeland, Fla., Friday afternoon.

Of the nearly 170 passengers and 10 crew members on the Amtrak vehicle, only seven had to be hospitalized, although none were seriously injured.

This was reported by local police, who also specified that the collision occurred around 7 p.m. due to a semi truck, which was carrying cars, being parked on the tracks.

The train was en route to New York from Miami, after a brief stop in Tampa.

Authorities are investigating why the truck was stopped on the tracks.
