'Oppenheimer' beats 'Barbie' and becomes the movie with the most nominations at the BAFTA 2024

The 77th edition of the British Awards will be held next Sunday, February 18 at the Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Center in London.

The awards season continues and, after celebrating the Golden Globes and the Emmys, it is time to meet the nominees for the BAFTA 2024. The British Academy of Film and Television Arts announced the nominees for the 77th edition of the British awards. British actor David Tennant will host the awards ceremony  on February 18 at the Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Center in London.

The favorite is Christopher Nolan's movie, "Oppenheimer," which has a total of 13 nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director. It far beats its box office competitor, "Barbie." Greta Gerwig's movie has five nominations, including Best Actress for Margot Robbie.

"Poor Things" continues to sweep this awards season. The movie starring Emma Stone earned a total of 11 nominations, including Best Actress for the American actress. "Killers of the Flower Moon" and "The Zone of Interest" follow, with nine nominations each.

"Society of Snow" also stands out. The Netflix movie directed by the Spanish director JA Bayona is about the tragedy of the Andes. It has been nominated for Best Foreign Language Film, emerging as one of the clear favorites to compete for the Oscar in this same category.
