One dead and 56 injured in Grand Canyon bus accident

The bus rolled over after colliding with another vehicle. This is the second incident of this type in two years.

One person was killed and 56 others were injured after a serious traffic accident on the Hualapai Indian Reservation in the Grand Canyon. The Hualapai Emergency Service (HES), the federally recognized Indian tribe residing on the Grand Canyon Reservation, was the reporting agency for this incident.

According to HES, the accident took place inside the Hualapai Indian Reservation, near the Grand Canyon Skywalk. According to authorities, the bus overturned on the highway, resulting in the death of one of its occupants. The accident took place in the western part of the Grand Canyon, outside of Grand Canyon National Park.

According to emergency services, eight of the injured were airlifted to nearby hospitals in the area due to their serious condition. The other people injured were taken in by ambulance.

According to NBC local media, the bus rolled over after colliding with another private vehicle. The crash occurred near the Skywalk parking lot.

This is not the first accident of this type in the vicinity of the Grand Canyon Skywalk. In 2021, another bus accident left one person dead and 40 others injured. The accident occurred on Diamond Bar Road.
