U.S. owners of more than 6,000 Jaguar electric cars will have to take their cars in for service. The reason: risk of the batteries catching fire.
"The high-voltage battery may overheat," Alex Ansley, head of the Recall Management Division, explained in a letter. He also stated that "the high-voltage battery overheating increases the risk of a fire." As a result, the company decided to recall some Jaguar I-PACEs.
In addition to asking customers to return their cars to the factory, Jaguar also recommends that they park them outdoors, according to the AP. In an email, the company advised parking away from structures until after servicing and charging vehicles outdoors.
The cars being recalled are Jaguar I-PACE Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs), model years 2019 to 2024. In total, there are about 6,400 vehicles.

The batteries in the recalled Jaguar were produced by LG Energy Solution of South Korea. The company is under investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration after five car manufacturers all issued recalls to their customers.
Ford, BMW, Volkswagen, Hyundai and General Motors are some of the companies that had to recall electric vehicles, mainly due to battery problems that can lead to fires. This problem has multiplied recently. The problem even forced fire departments to prepare specific protocols to extinguish this type of fire.
