A young man attacks at least five people with a knife near a mosque in Turkey

A masked young man, wearing a helmet and bulletproof vest, stabbed and wounded at least five people, one seriously, on Monday before being subdued in the garden of a mosque in Eskisehir (northwestern Turkey).

The 18-year-old suspect, armed with a long knife, filmed his assault in the garden of a mosque and broadcasted it on the X network (Twitter), before being arrested by the Police.

In the images that were posted on X, it can be seen how the young man runs in a slightly disoriented manner in a public area and starts stabbing people in a clumsy and crazy manner.

"The attacker was dressed as a video game character, with an axe on his belt, bulletproof vest and helmet, and his face covered," the Eskisehir Durum site reported. The young man's equipment was taken from him and the Turkish authorities exposed it in photographs.

The attacker did not shout any slogans or vindicate his gesture and is influenced by war video games, according to the Cumhuriyet daily. However, among his belongings there is a patch with the symbol of a black sun, which is part of Nazi symbology.
