The death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny in prison was reported Friday. Upon learning the news, a video from Thursday surfaced of the Russian political prisoner in a court video hearing, seen seemingly healthy.
"Yesterday's video of Alexei Navalny in a session with the Kovrov court via video link from Kharp. Alexei is awake, healthy and cheerful," read a post on X from SOTA, a Russian independent media group.
His team posted a photo of the same appearance and condemned the irregularities in the case against Navalny.
Considered the most prominent critic of President Vladimir Putin in the last decade, Navalny was serving a 19-year prison sentence for various crimes, most of which were politically motivated.
