Two bodies found with stab wounds in downtown Nottingham
Police received a call at 4 a.m. informing them that two bodies had been found with stab wounds in downtown Nottingham. Hours later, officers found a third body, which had been run over, on a road on the outskirts of the town. Shortly after, a call alerted the police to another hit-and-run incident, in this case involving three people, who were taken to hospital in serious condition. Police eventually arrested the suspect, a 31-year-old man.
"Major incident"
In a statement, Kate Meynell, Chief Constable of Nottingham Police Department, described what happened as a "major incident." The statement described the three events, stressing that "we believe these three incidents are linked and we have one man in custody."
She also indicated that "the investigation is in its early stages and a team of detectives is working to establish exactly what has happened." Meynell asked for the community to be patient with the ongoing investigation, which forced the authorities to close several roads.
