Major Jet-back: Aaron Rodgers suffers Achilles tear, is out for season
The franchise’s recently acquired starting quarterback was injured after being sacked by Leonard Floyd of the Buffalo Bills.
Despite winning 22-16 over the Buffalo Bills, the New York Jets suffered what may be the worst news of the season. Their new quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, left the game with an Achilles tendon injury. The analysis carried out on Tuesday confirmed a complete rupture of the tendon.
His coach, Robert Saleh, described Rodgers as "a coach who is still a player" in the post-game press conference:
Zach Wilson, who replaced Rodgers, also showed his concern at the end of the game:
It all happened on Rodgers' fourth play with his new team. Leonard Floyd of the Bills sacked the Jets quarterback before he threw a pass. After trying to get up, he returned to the ground and had to be helped off the field by Jets’ training staff. They took him to the locker room and, there, they performed the first examinations.
In April, Rodgers, 39, ended his 18-year stint with the Green Bay Packers to play with the Jets.
