California will finance 'sex change' treatments for illegal migrants
The expansion of the state Medi-Cal program will cover hormone therapy and surgical interventions for undocumented immigrants.
The expansion of the program that provides health care to vulnerable people and illegal immigrants in California was not limited to just increasing the age range of those who can benefit from it. According to the Medi-Cal memorandum, sex change treatments - hormones and surgical operations - for people determined to be in this situation have also been included since January 1.
"Benefit covered when medically necessary" in California
According to The Daily Caller, after reviewing the specifications approved by the Democratic majority in the State, at the request of State Senator María Elena Durazo :
Medi-Cal will cover the costs of hormonal therapies and surgical procedures "that bring primary and secondary gender characteristics into conformity with the individual’s identified gender, including ancillary services, such as hair removal which is inherent in such services."
Expanding Medi-Cal to illegals will cost between 2,700 and 4,000 million annually
This is the latest controversy that has accompanied this program, especially since its expansion to illegal immigrants between 26 and 49 years old was approved as of the first day of 2024. According to estimates, this expansion, from which up to 700,000 people could benefit, will cost taxpayers between 2.7 and 4 billion dollars annually. Republican legislator in the state Assembly Bill Essay introduced a bill on January 4 to repeal this measure.
