The New York Post reported that it had access to a lawsuit filed against New York Mayor Eric Adams for an alleged sexual assault that occurred in 1993. According to the article, the plaintiff seeks at least $5 million.

The lawsuit against the Democratic mayor was made public hours before the deadline of the Adult Survivors Act, which gives victims a one-year time frame to file sexual assault charges in cases when the statute of limitations had already expired.

"Plaintiff was sexually assaulted by Defendant Eric Adams in New York, New York in 1993 while they both worked for the City of New York," alleges the three-page summons, which does not provide further details and was reviewed by the NYP.

The New York Police Traffic Bureau and the Guardian Association are also named as defendants.

Likewise, a spokesperson from city hall claimed that the mayor denies the allegations and does not know the person who is suing him. "The mayor does not know who this person is. If they ever met, he doesn't recall it," said the source.

Adams denies the allegations

The mayor of New York rejected the sexual assault allegations against him in front of a group of journalists.

"I don't recall meeting this person and I wouldn't harm anyone. It did not happen," he affirmed.

"As you know, I have been in public life for almost 40 years and people know my character, they see how I am, how I carry myself and I just emphatically state that this never took place (...) is just not who I am," he insisted.

Eric Adams, who began his career as a police officer before entering politics, is under additional scrutiny due to an ongoing federal investigation into his 2021 mayoral campaign fundraising. Last week, the FBI seized his electronic devices as part of this investigation. Adams has also denied any wrongdoing in connection with these events.
