Actor Kevin Spacey was acquitted of nine of the 12 charges he faced for allegedly sexually assaulting four men. The trial, which took place at Southwark Crown Court, London, took nearly a month and ended on Wednesday when the U.K. court found the actor not guilty. He is known for his roles in "American Beauty" and "The Usual Suspects."

The actor was visibly moved when he received the verdict on Wednesday after the 12-person jury deliberated for 12 hours and 26 minutes on the events that took place between 2004 and 2013 in the U.K.

During this time, the "House of Cards" actor worked as an artistic director at the Old Vic Theatre in London, which was where the four men accused Spacey of sexually abusing them. The actor was quickly "canceled" and soon became one of the favorite victims of the Me Too movement.

Kevin Spacey thanks jury for their verdict

Kevin Spacey, who also celebrated his 64th birthday on Wednesday, spoke to the press and he thanked the jury for all the time they had spent before giving their verdict:

I imagine that many of you can understand that there’s a lot for me to process after what has just happened today. But I would like to say that I’m enormously grateful to the jury for having taken the time to examine all of the evidence and all of the facts carefully before they reached their decision. And I am humbled by the outcome today. I also want to thank the staff of this courthouse, the security and everyone who has served us, as well as my legal team for being here every day. And that's all I have to say for the moment. Thank you very much.
