Chinese-American singer, songwriter and actress Coco Lee, died Wednesday at the age of 48.

The artist known for songs such as Do You Want My Love and A Love Before Time (from the movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), had been suffering from depression for several years, however, her condition deteriorated in recent months, according to her sisters Carol and Nancy Lee.

"CoCo sought professional help and did her best to fight depression, sadly that demon inside of her got the better of her," the sisters explained on Instagram.

On Sunday, the Before I Fall in Love singer (from the film Runaway Bride) was transported to the hospital after attempting suicide. However, "despite the best efforts of the hospital team to rescue and treat her from her coma, she finally passed away on 5 July, 2023."

"As a family of CoCo, we are very grateful and honored to have such an excellent and outstanding sister," they also wrote about the artist who voiced Mulan in Disney's 1998 animated film - Mandarin version.

We are thankful to God for giving us such a kind angel. We know now she has gone to a happier place and no longer suffers from depression; we trust God has her best interest looked after!
