Greg Abbott has added Denver to his list of cities where he busses immigrants. Democrat Michael Hancock's sanctuary city joins New York City, Washington D.C., Chicago and Philadelphia. The Texan governor posted the announcement on Twitter. In his message, Abbott took a swipe at the Biden administration's immigration policy and stated that Texas cannot deal with the situation alone.

According to Greg Abbott, the first immigrant bus from Texas arrived Thursday in Denver and dropped off its occupants near Civic Center Park, located directly across the street from the Denver City Council and the Colorado State Capitol.

"Texas' overwhelmed and overrun Texas border communities should not have to shoulder the flood of illegal immigration due to President Biden's reckless open borders policies, like his mass capture and release without court dates or any way to track them," Abbott said in his statement.

For the same reason, he stated that his administration will continue to send busloads of immigrants to cities that are self-proclaimed "sanctuaries" for illegal aliens crossing the southern border.

In April 2022, amid the border crisis and just weeks before the expiration of Title 42, the Abbott administration decided to send these immigrant buses to the northernmost cities that had agreed to take in illegals. Soon, several cities began to push back and accused Abbott of foul play. New York Mayor Eric Adams and then Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot accused Abbott of wanting to ruin cities governed by Black mayors by sending migrants, a double standard concerning their allegedly welcoming policies.

According to the Texas government, about 19,000 immigrants have been bussed to other cities. 9,300 to Washington D.C.; 6,500 to New York; 1,800 to Chicago; 970 to Philadelphia and several to Denver.
