Donald Trump erupted on social media, accusing the Justice Department of weaponizing the legal system against him. His outburst followed the latest move by special prosecutor Jack Smith and Judge Tanya Chutkan in the case concerning his alleged involvement in the events of January 6. In a fiery post on Truth Social, the Republican candidate claimed that Merrick Garland’s agency was bending its own rules to interfere with the upcoming election. He reiterated his call for the case to be dismissed, similar to what occurred with the classified Mar-a-Lago documents.

DOJ breaks its own rules "in favor of total and complete election interference."

The Republican candidate denounced Smith's presentation of new evidence, and Chutkan's allowing part of it to be released, as a break with DOJ doctrine on the eve of an election:

"FOR 60 DAYS PRIOR TO AN ELECTION, THE DEPARTMENT OF INJUSTICE IS SUPPOSED TO DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING THAT WOULD TAINT OR INTERFERE WITH A CASE. THEY DISOBEYED THEIR OWN RULE IN FAVOR OF COMPLETE AND TOTAL ELECTION INTERFERENCE."

Trump claims "case is a scam" to hurt him ahead of election

In addition, the former president reiterated his innocence, accusing the Biden Administration of mounting a "scam" that should be dismissed. Trump also recalled that, despite the controversy generated, including a raid on his mansion, the case of the classified documents at his residence ended up being dismissed:

"I DID NOTHING WRONG, THEY DID! THE CASE IS A SCAM, JUST LIKE ALL OF THE OTHERS, INCLUDING THE DOCUMENTS CASE, WHICH WAS DISMISSED!"
