A new poll reveals that Vice President Kamala Harris' popularity has reached historic lows. In fact, she is the second in command with the worst approval rating in at least the last three decades.

The most recent NBC News poll results show that Harris has only a 32% approval rating. However, if that is compared to the 49% who said they had a negative or "very negative" opinion of her, her net rating is -17. This number represents the lowest score of any vice president in the history of the NBC News poll.

The report recalls that when Mike Pence was vice president, he also had a negative net rating, but it was still quite a bit higher than Harris'. According to the report, in October 2019, the then second-in-command had an approval rating of 34%, but 38% of voters had a negative opinion of him, giving him a -4 rating.

In 2010, when Joe Biden was vice president, he scored +1, having a 34% approval rating and a 33% negative opinion. Dick Cheney had a +23 rating, with 47% positive and 27% negative.

Finally, the report also recalled that in 1995 a poll gave Al Gore a score of +15 for having had 42% approval and 27% negative opinion.

According to Democratic strategist Cornell Belcher, the whole problem is that there is "a different filter and a different focus put on the first woman to ever be Vice President of the United States, particularly a woman of color."

However, White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients thinks they must ensure "that we do a good job of exposing" her to the American public.
