Former President Donald Trump won the Conservative Political Action Conference's (CPAC) 2024 presidential race straw poll with 62% support on Saturday.

The poll also revealed that 95% of respondents said they approved of Trump's work as president (from 2016 to 2020).

Trump's main rivals within his own party include (unofficially) Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and (officially) businessman and author Perry Johnson, who received 20% and 5% support respectively. Johnson posted his excitement on Twitter:

Have you heard? (...) I came third in the @CPAC (...) for president! After formally announcing my campaign to be your next president on Thursday, I couldn't be more thrilled to have won the votes of so many conservatives. My #TwoCents Plan will save not only the American economy, but also the American Dream. I hope you will follow my campaign as I travel the country to share more about my vision.

Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley won 3% support among GOP voters.

Kari Lake for vice president

Former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake received the most support for the vice presidential race with 20%. DeSantis followed with 14% support.

According to organizers, more than 2,000 attendees at the Washington D.C. event responded to the survey.
