CPAC 2023: Trump wins 2024 presidential straw poll with a significant majority
More than 2,000 attendees at the event held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center answered the poll questions. Kari Lake received the most support for the vice presidential race with 20%. She was followed by Ron DeSantis with 14%.
Former President Donald Trump won the Conservative Political Action Conference's (CPAC) 2024 presidential race straw poll with 62% support on Saturday.
The poll also revealed that 95% of respondents said they approved of Trump's work as president (from 2016 to 2020).
Trump's main rivals within his own party include (unofficially) Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and (officially) businessman and author Perry Johnson, who received 20% and 5% support respectively. Johnson posted his excitement on Twitter:
Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley won 3% support among GOP voters.
Kari Lake for vice president
Former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake received the most support for the vice presidential race with 20%. DeSantis followed with 14% support.
According to organizers, more than 2,000 attendees at the Washington D.C. event responded to the survey.
