This Thursday, Dr. Kevin O'Connor, the president's physician, reported on Joe Biden's second physical examination and announced that the president "remains fit for duty" at 80 years of age.

According to the statement issued by the White House, Dr. O'Connor said the president "remains a healthy, vigorous 80-year-old male who is fit to successfully execute the duties of the presidency."

However, not everything about the president's physical was positive. The health expert said that a chest lesion had to be removed and sent for "a traditional biopsy." The results are still pending.

Also, O'Connor indicated that the president takes medication for non-valvular atrial fibrillation, as well as for high cholesterol, and gastroesophageal reflux due to having to clear his throat more frequently, and some other medications for seasonal allergies.

The report states that Biden still experiences a stiff gait and although it has not worsened in the last year, he has been prescribed custom orthotics. In addition, his contact lens prescription was updated.

Are there any cognitive concerns?

The president's health is being questioned and is of great interest to the country due to the fact that he may seek reelection in 2024. However, Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley recently stated that politicians should also be given a cognitive exam before taking office.

Biden's health has been questioned in the past, especially after some public memory lapses and episodes of confusion. In fact, some of these gaffes have gone viral online.

In one video, the president can be seen saying that his son died in the war in Iraq, when he actually died of cancer in Maryland, six years after his return.

The president suffered another lapse in September of last year when, during a speech, he called out for a congresswoman who had died the previous month.

More recently, the president also while singing "Happy Birthday" to her during the federal holiday honoring the late civil rights icon. There have been other episodes similar to these.
