The director of "The Flash," Andy Muschietti, is clear: Ezra Miller will return to play Barry Allen if he makes a sequel to the superhero film. Muschietti said this during an interview on "The Discourse" podcast when asked if he would give the controversial performer a chance again in the future:

If [a sequel] happens, yes. I don’t think there’s anyone that can play that character as well as they did. The other depictions of the character are great, but this particular vision of the character, they just excelled in doing it. And, as you said, the two Barrys – it feels like a character that was made for them.

Muschietti's sister, who is also the director of the new Warner Bros. film and DC Studios, Barbara Muschietti, also agreed. She noted Miller's to bringing Barry Allen to life: "Ezra was brilliant and the most committed and the most professional [actor]. Ezra gave everything for this role – physically, creatively, emotionally. They were absolutely supreme."

This is not the first time the filmmakers have publicly endorsed Ezra Miller. Deadline recalls the Muschietti siblings' comments during CinemaCon in Las Vegas. They assured that the controversial actor is "one of the best":

One of the best actors I’ve ever worked with. Every tool in the toolkit… [Miller] is an incredible comedian, and [has] all the action required for a big spectacle like this.

Ezra Miller removed from the promotion of "The Flash"

Despite the supporting words of Ezra Miller's performance as Barry Allen in "The Flash," it is striking how he has been sidelined from the film's promotion, which will be released June 16. Sasha Collins, the actress who plays Supergirl in the film, and Michael Keaton, who reprises his role as Batman, have taken on most of the promotion while Ezra Miller is recovering in the public eye following recent controversies.

Two years ago, the actor began to have problems related to a series of crimes in various states. In doing so, he was charged with felony burglary, as well as theft, assault and other disorderly conduct offenses in Massachusetts, Hawaii and North Dakota.

After this, it was thought that Warner Bros. was trying to distance itself from Miller. However, the company assured that this was not the case and that they were simply giving the actor time to recover. The decision seemed to be confirmed after the resounding absence of the film's protagonist during the promotion of the movie.
