The second trailer for The Super Mario Bros: The Movie was released on Tuesday and, since then, it has become a trending topic on Twitter. The movie, which will be released on the big screen on April 6 (March 31 in Spain), thrilled fans of the video game. There will be appearances from Mario on a rainbow runway and colorful Yoshis.
The movie also features Peach (dubbed by Anya Taylor-Joy) in the role of the princess but, in this case, she does not need to be saved as she is the one calling the shots. The teaser also includes other famous video game characters such as Luigi (voiced by Charlie Day), Bowser (Jack Black), Toad (Keegan-Michael Key) or Donkey Kong (Seth Roger).
Chris Pratt's voice as Mario doesn’t convince fans
Chris Pratt has been put in charge of bringing Mario to life. The actor, during an interview with Variety, spoke about the challenge posed by doing the voice over for Mario: "I worked really closely with the directors and trying out a few things and landed on something that I’m really proud of and can’t wait for people to see and hear."
However, Super Mario fans aren’t satisfied with Pratt's work. There have been many complaints about the actor's voice while dubbing Mario:
The film, produced by Nintendo and Illumination, comes 30 years after the video game company released the Super Mario movie. Back then, it wasn’t animated and starred Bob Hoskins, John Leguizamo and Dennis Hopper. However, it was not as successful as expected and became one of the biggest box office flops.
