Biden on CNN: clumsy but “proud" of his son Hunter

The president claims that his son is "on the straight and narrow" and drops his advisors' flashcards in the middle of an interview.

Joe Biden is "proud" of his son Hunter and defended him against the charges he faces, which include tax fraud and a firearms offense.

In an interview on CNN on Tuesday, the president said his son Hunter is "on the straight and narrow" after overcoming his drug addiction.

This is a kid who got, not a kid — he’s a grown man. He got hooked on — like many families have had happen, hooked on drugs. He’s overcome that. He’s established a new life.

Biden's clumsiness: he drops his advisors' flashcards

In the middle of the interview with Jake Tapper on CNN Tonight, Biden staged a new gaffe and dropped his advisors' endorsement cards (known as 'flashcards'). After this mistake, the president responded hesitantly to the interviewer's questions.

Denies recession and points out Putin's "mistake"

Jake Tapper reminded the president that the head of JP Morgan Chase warned that the country is likely to enter a recession in the next nine months. However, Joe Biden said people should not prepare for a recession. The president pointed out that he does not believe that this downturn will occur, but that "if it is, it will be a very slight recession."

The interview also addressed the situation in Russia. Joe Biden claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin is a "rational actor" who miscalculated his ability to invade Ukraine and repress its people.

I think he is a rational actor who has miscalculated significantly.

The president warned last week that the risk of a nuclear "Armageddon" was at its highest point in 60 years.
