Biden assures that the U.S. will give Israel the support it needs to defend itself: "It's about the security of our world"

"We now know that American citizens are among those being held by Hamas," the president stated.

This Tuesday, President Joe Biden spoke about the war between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas. "There is no justification for terrorism," said the president. The president said that at least 14 Americans have been killed since the Hamas attack began, and also confirmed that there are American citizens among the hostages taken captive by Hamas.

"There are moments in this life, and I mean this literally when pure, unadulterated evil is unleashed on this world (...) The people of Israel live through one such moment this weekend," he added.

Biden also assured that he asked Congress to take "urgent action to fund the national security requirements of our critical partners."

He directly condemned the terrorist group: "Hamas doesn’t stand for the Palestinian people’s right to dignity and self-determination. Its stated purpose is the annihilation of the state of Israel and the murder of Jewish people."

Biden also spoke about the call he had with Prime Minister Netanyahu before giving his speech: "I just got off the phone with Prime Minister Netanyahu. I told him, 'If the United States experienced what Israel experienced, our response would be swift, decisive and overwhelming.'"

Regarding U.S. support for Israel, President Biden said this: "Let there be no doubt the United States has Israel's back. We'll make sure the Jewish and democratic State of Israel can defend itself today, tomorrow, as we always have."

"This is not about party or politics. It's about the security of our world," he added.
