WWE co-founder Vince McMahon resigns after a lawsuit was filed against him for alleged sexual misconduct

The alleged victim is a former wrestling worker who alleges that she was sexually exploited by McMahon and the people around him.

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) co-founder Vince McMahon resigned as CEO of TKO Group Holdings, WWE's parent company, after a complaint was filed against him for alleged sexual misconduct.

This Thursday, Janel Grant - a former WWE employee - filed the lawsuit in a Connecticut court. She alleges that, instead of having a good career in wrestling as McMahon promised her, she was sexually exploited by him and other people around him for three years.

Grant also explained that McMahon offered her $3 million as compensation in exchange for her silence. However, she continued to be sexually harassed, according to the alleged victim.

McMahon: "It's a vindictive distortion of the truth"

The WWE co-founder quickly responded to the accusations and the lawsuit filed by Grant. In a statement reported by Fox News, McMahon said:

I stand by my prior statement that Ms. Grant's lawsuit is replete with lies, obscene made-up instances that never occurred and is a vindictive distortion of the truth. I intend to vigorously defend myself against these baseless accusations and look forward to clearing my name. However, out of respect for the WWE Universe, the extraordinary TKO business and its board members and shareholders, partners and constituents and all of the employees and superstars who helped make WWE into the global leader it is today, I have decided to resign from my executive chairmanship and the TKO board of directors, effective immediately.

A spokesperson for McMahon responded to the WWE co-founder and said that they will defend themselves against the accusations "vigorously."
