Trump satisfied after the first day of trial in New York: "80% of the case is over"

The former president said that Judge Engoron accepts that transactions prior to 2014 are past the statute of limitations. He also attacked "racist" Attorney General James and warned that businesses are fleeing from "Radical Left Democrats, Marxists, and Fascists."

Donald Trump appeared satisfied as he left the New York court after the first day of his trial for alleged tax fraud, ensuring that "80% of the case is over." The former president assured that Judge Arthur Engoron, whom he had previously called a "Democrat," accepted the appeals court's decision that the alleged crimes committed in transactions prior to 2014 are past the statute of limitations. In addition, the former president once again criticized the "racist" New York Attorney General Letitia James and denounced that businesses are fleeing the state because it is "too much work and 'heartache' dealing with Radical Left Democrats, Marxists and Fascists!"

Trump says trial is 'rigged' to remove him from the presidential race

The former president insisted that the trial is actually an effort by Democrats to remove him from the 2024 presidential race through a "rigged court." However, after the first day of trial, he emerged visibly calmer, as the judge announced that he would honor the appeals court decision that ruled in Trump's favor on the statute of limitations. Thus, the former president's alleged crimes committed while building his real estate empire prior to 2014 will not be tried by Engoron.

The last five minutes was outstanding because the judge essentially conceded that the statute of limitations that we won at the Court of Appeals is in effect. Therefore about 80% of the case is over. The way I interpret that, and the way the room seems to interpret that is that the statute of limitations is a very real thing in this country. And about 80% of this case would be over.

Businesses fleeing New York because of Democrats

In a statement on Truth Social hours after the end of the first day, Trump again attacked James, sarcastically thanking her for showing people the "great company I built." He also took aim at Democrats in the state for creating a non-business-friendly climate, which is scaring away entrepreneurs.

It is also stating, loud and clear, “don’t move your company to New York, and if you are already here, move out fast. Too much work and 'heartache' dealing with the Radical Left Democrats, Marxists, and Fascists!"
