Last Friday, after a swift move by Congress, the Omnibus Act regarding the 2023 fiscal budget was approved. During the Senate debate, Mitch McConnell, the Republican minority leader, voted in favor of the package, which prompted several members of his party to criticize it. For instance, this Monday, Donald Trump spoke out calling him an "old crow" and accusing him for being extorted by Democrats.
The relationship between the former president and the senator was never very friendly, but this week it definitely hit rock bottom. After the midterm elections they blamed each other for the Democratic Party's victory in the Senate, and now Trump, through his Truth Social platform, chastised him for supporting the package that will fund the Biden Administration for much of next year:
If the Old Crow waited just 10 days, the Republican Majority in the House could have made the 'Ominous' Bill MUCH, MUCH, MUCH BETTER. Just another win for the Democrats, Mitch, that wouldn't have happened if Trump were President!
Trump’s criticism lies in the fact that in the vote that took place in the Senate, some 18 Republicans voted with Democrats, including McConnell. The final result was 68 votes in favor and 29 against. This partial victory allowed the Democratic Party to quickly deal with the legislation in the second instance and pass it (with 225 votes in favor and 201 against) before 2023, when the Republican Party will regain control of the House of Representatives.
Extortion and division in the GOP
The former president also wrote that the Democratic caucus had compromising information about McConnell to force him to vote against Republicans. In addition, he took aim at his wife, Elaine Chao, who served as Secretary of Transportation during the Trump Administration:

Lawmakers critical of the 2023 fiscal budget claim it gives more cash flow to the Biden Administration. Senator Ted Cruz will continue to subsidize "the reckless spending spree that has led the country into out-of-control inflation" and "continue reckless immigration policies that have led to open borders."
