The discussion between Roseanne Barr and Rob Reiner about Trump

The comedian said the only hope for Democrats is to keep "lying." The message was in response to the film director who criticized supporters of the former Republican president.

Comedian Roseanne Barr and film director Rob Reiner starred in a discussion on X (formerly Twitter) over Reiner's recent comments in which he criticized Republicans who support former President Donald Trump and claimed they have to be "defeated" in the upcoming election.

"Republicans say that even if Trump is a Convicted Felon who attempted to destroy American Democracy, they will still vote for him. We will only survive if he, and the corrupt party he leads, is decisively defeated in 2024," Reiner wrote on the social network.

In response to the comments, Roseanne Barr responded by questioning the election and criticizing Democrats for claiming that supporters of President Donald Trump are a threat to the United States. "What a crazy idea, you mean beat him in a fair and general election that would require good ideas and debate (and not so obvious corruption)?"

"Good luck dems. We know why you’re cheating and lying and indicting and false flagging. It’s your only hope. But keep telling us we are the threat to democracy," the comedian added.

The discussion comes at a time when former President Donald Trump continues as the front-runner among Republicans despite the legal charges he faces against him. A recent poll conducted after the Republican's latest indictment by survey company Premise assured that Donald Trump would win over Joe Biden in the 2024 presidential election by four percentage points. Thus, the poll indicates that the Republican would obtain the support of 42% of the surveyed voters while the Democratic candidate would have the support of 38%.
