The 43-year-old actress announced her diagnosis on social media and said that she has never smoked a cigarette in her life.

"The Big Bang Theory" actress Kate Micucci announced this weekend that she has lung cancer. The 43-year-old actress posted her diagnosis on social media. She said she has never smoked a cigarette in her life:

In the video, actress Kate Micucci, who also starred in series such as "Scrubs" and "How I Met Your Mother," updated her followers on her condition. She revealed that her cancer had been detected early and could therefore be treated quickly:

Hey everybody, this is not a TikTok, it’s a ‘Sick Tok.’ I’m in the hospital but it’s because I had lung cancer surgery yesterday. They caught it really early. It’s pretty weird because I’ve never smoked a cigarette in my life so uh, you know, it was a surprise. But also I guess it happens and the greatest news is they caught it early, they got it out, I’m all good. But, it’s been a little bit of a trip and [I’ll] probably be moving slow for a few weeks but then I’ll be back at it.

The actress, seen lying on a hospital bed and wearing a surgical gown, humorously ended the video by giving the camera a thumbs up while saying, "Why am I still talking … ‘cause I’m on drugs!"

Lung cancer, although more frequent in smokers, can also occur in non-smokers. Radon exposure, secondhand smoke and air pollution are some of the possible causes of lung cancer in non-smokers, according to the American Cancer Society.
