Texas victory: court blocks federal government from cutting barbed wire on border

Governor Greg Abbott welcomed the decision. He maintained that he will work with prosecutor Ken Paxton to hold Joe Biden accountable for attacking "the sovereign authority" of the state.

A federal appeals court prevented Joe Biden's Government from removing the barbed wire barriers that were installed on the Texas border by state authorities. The information was confirmed by Governor Greg Abbott.

"The Fifth Circuit ordered the Biden Admin to stop cutting Texas’ razor wire pending our appeal of its initial ruling", Abbott wrote on his X account (formerly Twitter) in a message that accompanied the ruling.

In that sense, the Republican maintained that he will make efforts with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton to hold the Biden Administration accountable for its attempts to end "border security efforts."

"AG Paxton and I will hold Biden and Mayorkas accountable for attacking Texas’ sovereign authority and their attempts to obstruct our border security efforts." Abbott said.

"I will work to make Texas a safer place to live"

Meanwhile, prosecutor Paxton also celebrated the ruling on his social media outlets. He pointed out that the decision will help to face the border crisis that is being experienced in the state. The prosecutor explained that previously, despite acknowledging that the federal government had failed to enforce existing immigration law, a federal district court concluded that the Biden Administration enjoyed sovereign immunity.

Furthermore, Paxton recalled that he immediately appealed to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. "I am very pleased the appellate court has forbidden federal agents sent by the Biden administration from destroying our concertina wire fences. Given the ongoing disaster at the southern border due to the federal government’s intentional actions, more than ever it is necessary to take every step we can to hold the line," Paxton said.

Likewise, he stressed that "I will continue to fight against the Biden administration’s radical policies and work to make Texas a safer, more secure place to live."
