Fifteen Texas Republican lawmakers led by Rep. Chip Roy asked their fellow party members in the U.S. House of Representatives to not support funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) until Joe Biden secures the border and removes DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas from office. They also requested the federal administration withdraw a lawsuit against Texas and issue the state a $10 million settlement for its work at the border.
Roy promoted the hashtag #NoSecurityNoFunding to encourage others to oppose funding DHS if the Biden administration does not abide by Republican requests.
Roy and the other signatories wrote in a letter to their fellow House Republicans, "The State of Texas is bearing the brunt of a national crisis at our southern border directly resulting from the unlawful and irresponsible actions of President [Joe] Biden and Secretary [Alejandro] Mayorkas. Criminal cartels maintain operational control of the border. Migrants are dying on Texas ranches and along the Rio Grande. … ranchers are threatened, and high-speed chases are tearing through small towns. … dangerous fentanyl is pouring into our communities via an open border… killing 200 Americans a day." They added, "We must use the power of the purse to force President Biden to end the carnage resulting from open borders."
I will not support giving taxpayer $ to a fed govt at war with Tx, suing our governor, lying about @CBP whipping people, lying about operational control, helping fentanyl kill Americans, & most sick of all, allowing little girls to get raped in stash houses. #NoSecurityNoFunding pic.twitter.com/qUm1AJaBCl
