Texas was the state that added the most jobs in the last 12 months. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Lone Star State added 542,500 jobs between June 2022 and June 2023, integrating the largest workforce in the state’s history and an annual growth of 4%. Greg Abbott celebrated the news on social media, where he thanked the “talent of our workforce and an unparalleled business climate.”
According to published statistics, Texas led all other states in job creation over the past 12 months, continuing its statistical hot streak. It had recently been awarded as the state with the best business climate.
According to Business Facilities, the state attracted about 1,000 projects in 2022, more than double the next-ranked state, representing an expected capital investment of $44.75 billion and creating about 35,000 jobs. In addition, foreign direct investment (the investment made by a country, company or individual from a given country in another foreign country) accounts for some US$16.3 billion and half of the new jobs registered that year.

Record employment in Texas
The state governed by Greg Abbott reached a labor force of 15,039,800, the largest in Texas history. It also grew at a rate of 4%, outperforming the rest of the states and the nation as a whole (2.5%).
“The Texan economy’s undeniable dominance in employment is proof that businesses and jobs grow when given the freedom to succeed. It is a testament to the strength of our state economy that more Texans are working than ever before as Texas shatters all previous records for total jobs, now 21 consecutive months,” said the governor.
“It’s no surprise that Texas continues to lead the nation with more jobs added over the last 12 months and the fastest jobs growth rate in the country. More paychecks mean more opportunities for the people of this great state to thrive. Together with the nation’s most innovative businesses and the best workforce in America, we are building an even bigger, bolder Texas of tomorrow,” added the Republican, who won re-election in 2022 with 54.8% of the vote, beating Democrat Beto O’Rourke.
