Several of Scott's major donors announce their support for Nikki Haley

The former governor of South Carolina received the support of three of the senator's main financial backers, who want to present a firm alternative to Donald Trump.

Nikki Haley's campaign will be the main beneficiary of Sen. Tim Scott's decision to drop out. Several of the South Carolina senator's main donors announced that their support (and their funds) will remain in this state, announcing their support for the former ambassador to the United Nations and former South Carolina governor.

Three of Scott's biggest donors have already announced their support for Haley, and a fourth is considering

Speaking to the AP, Eric LeVine, one of Trump's critics, highlighted that Haley "is our last best hope to defeat Donald Trump and then take back the White House." LeVine, who was raising funds for Scott's campaign in New York, told Reuters that he is considering starting a campaign for Haley.

Also shifting support to Haley was South Carolinian businessman Chad Walldorf, who is also seeking to prevent the former president from being the Republican candidate. "I’ve always thought the field needs to winnow quickly so we can get behind a good alternative to Trump, so I greatly respect Tim for unselfishly stepping aside rather than waiting until too late," he noted.

Likewise, metal magnate Andy Sabin expressed his intention to support to the former governor, while Jeff Burns of California indicated that he has not yet decided who he will back, although he acknowledged that he sees Haley as a solid option.
