Senate Republicans launch first ad in their quest to regain majority

Under the slogan "Get America Back on Track," the video highlights the GOP's agenda for the coming years: secure the border, protect communities from drugs, control the supply chain and lower the daily cost of living for Americans.

The Republican Party's primary goal is to regain the White House and Senate in 2024. While the race for the presidential nomination is in full swing, the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) is pushing for competitive candidates in key races such as Nevada, Pennsylvania, Montana and West Virginia. As for explaining the agenda with which the GOP will attempt to retake the majority in the Upper House, they have recently launched their first ad.

Dubbed "Get America Back on Track," the video lasts a little over a minute and lists the major items Republicans will push for from within the Senate, should they retake the reins. With Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) as narrator, it begins by assuring that "the country is headed in the wrong direction" and that "Senate Republicans have solutions to get America back on track."

These first two sentences were accompanied by videos of Joe Biden wandering around the White House, followed by flashes of Republican senators as they list the main points of the agenda:

  • Securing the border
  • Protect our communities from the deadly flow of drugs and human trafficking.
  • Controlling our supply chain, preventing China from spying and stealing, and prohibiting China from buying American farmland.
  • Senate Republicans are committed to making life more affordable for every American.
  • Spending less, reducing the dominance of Washington bureaucrats, and freeing up American energy.

Some of the lawmakers featured in the video are Mike Lee (R-UT), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Mike Braun (R-IN), James Lankford (R-OK), Ted Budd (R-NC), Katie Britt (R-AL) and John Barrasso (R-WY). Precisely, the latter released a statement to accompany the announcement.

"Joe Biden and the Democrats seem hell-bent on destroying this country. They created and ignored a crisis at the Southern Border and a crisis of high prices. They’re bowing to Communist China – not holding an adversary accountable," he began.

"Joe Biden and Democrats are undermining America’s strength. Families want the nation to change direction. Senate Republicans have solutions to get America back on track," finished the senator, who is currently number three among Senate Republicans, behind only Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and John Thune (R-SD).
