Nikki Haley is supported by the left: One of her mega-donors financed E. Jean Carroll's lawsuit against Trump

Reid Hoffman, a well-known donor to progressive causes, contributed $250,000 to the Republican presidential candidate's campaign.

The major donor to Nikki Haley's campaign is not only a prominent Democratic contributor but was also a key financier behind the lawsuit filed by E. Jean Carroll against former President Donald Trump.

Reid Hoffman, the billionaire co-founder of LinkedIn, known for his significant contributions to leftist causes, became a Haley mega-donor last year. With a pledge of $250,000, Hoffman expressed hope that Haley's candidacy could overtake Donald Trump in the Republican primary. Although his efforts with the former ambassador have failed to bear fruit so far, this is not Hoffman's only attempt to influence the former president's political destiny.

Hoffman also played a significant financial role in Carroll's rape and defamation lawsuit against the former president. The businessman acknowledged that he intended to counter the "threat" posed by Trump.

"Supporting women fighting for progress and justice in philanthropy, politics, and business has been a longstanding priority of mine, as is supporting America against the threat of Trump—a stance that I've not only made public, but also have prioritized over recent years," he stated in a publication made through LinkedIn.

Haley didn't care where the money came from

Haley accepted the businessman's contribution, even though Hoffman's political team explicitly approached the pro-Haley PAC to ask if it would be willing to receive the donation, knowing the billionaire's continued efforts on behalf of Democrats and against Trump.

"Anybody that wants to come support the cause, whether they're Republican, independent or Democrat, we're going to take them," Haley said during an interview.

DeSantis spokesperson accused Haley of being liberal

After Hoffman's support for Haley came to light, Bryan Griffin, the spokesman for former Republican candidate Ron DeSantis, said that it made sense that liberal Democratic billionaires would want to support Haley's candidacy for the White House because, according to him, "She is a liberal."

"She would let corporations set immigration policy, roll out the red carpet for China, hike taxes on hardworking Americans, and require social media users to register with the government," he said in a statement.

Hoffman's progressive efforts

One of his most notable contributions has been the creation of Win the Future, a new group with the self-declared mission of returning the Democratic Party to relevance. In addition, he allocated $1 million to Cortico, a company that encourages online dialogue between people with opposing political opinions.

Hoffman made considerable investments in Higher Ground Labs, an entity dedicated to supporting progressive politicians. He was also involved in Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign and repeatedly spoke out against Donald Trump.

As expected, Hoffman was also a major co-host of a fundraiser for Biden and has been focused on supporting anti-Trump leaders.

Hoffman will not donate any more money to Haley

After Haley was defeated in the first Republican primary, Hoffman decided he would no longer contribute to the former ambassador's presidential campaign, CNBC reported.
