Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, announced Wednesday that he was separating from his wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, after 18 years of marriage. The Canadian president announced via his Instagram account that he and his wife, who got married in 2005, are separating and have signed a legal agreement. The two have three children. Trudeau asked the media to respect their privacy "for the well-being of our children."
