California authorities confirmed Tuesday that human remains found Saturday in Southern California belong to actor Julian Sands, 65, who has been missing since last January in the San Gabriel Mountains.
The cause of death is still under investigation. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said in a statement that it is awaiting the results of additional tests. "We would like to extend our gratitude to all of the volunteers who worked tirelessly to locate Mr. Sands," the Sheriff's Department stated.
A group of hikers found the body last Saturday on Mount Baldy, near the trail where Sands went on a hike and never returned. A coroner confirmed that the body belongs to the British actor, who was popular for his roles in films such as A Room with a View, Arachnophobia, Vatel and the TV series 24.
