U.S. World War II bomb explodes in Japan
The incident occurred at an airport and left a hole near the runway. There were no injuries, but numerous flights were suspended.
The explosion of an old U.S. bomb forced the temporary closure of Miyazaki Regional Airport, canceling about 90 flights.

This morning, an explosion was reportedly captured on the information camera at Miyazaki Airport at 7:58 AM, sending plumes of dust into the air.

There were no injuries, local authorities reported. The blast did leave a 23-foot-long and 13-foot-wide crater near a runway, The Japan Times reported. The military removed the wreckage of the device.
Other unexploded bombs had previously been found in the area of the airport created in 1943 for the Navy, from where kamikaze planes took off. The bomb in question is a 500-pound bomb and the reason for its failure is unknown.
