Netanyahu asks Biden for help to strengthen missile defense system
The president has already announced that he is willing “to offer all appropriate means of support” to Israel.
The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, asked the United States for economic help in the war that was declared after the unprecedented attack carried out by the terrorist group Hamas this Saturday.
Axios political journalist Barak Ravid announced through social media that, during a phone call, the Israeli prime minister asked President Joe Biden for financial help to be able to purchase more interceptors for the missile defense system known as Iron Dome.
Although the information has not been confirmed by either the United States or Israel, President Biden reported that he spoke with Netanyahu after the attacks and made it clear that he was willing “to offer all appropriate means of support” to Israel.
“Terrorism is never justified. Israel has a right to defend itself and its people. The United States warns against any other party hostile to Israel seeking advantage in this situation. My Administration’s support for Israel’s security is rock solid and unwavering,” he said.
The prime minister then shared a statement thanking President Biden “for his clear and forceful words.” Although he did not clarify exactly what he discussed with the US president, he explained that Biden and other world leaders supported him “unconditionally” in his decision to defend himself against terrorist attacks.
