Actor Keegan Allen, known for playing Toby Cavanaugh on the series Pretty Little Liars, reported that he was the victim of an armed robbery in West Hollywood, California late Thursday night. Following the incident, he shared a video on Instagram in which he is seen with blood on his face and criticized Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass regarding the effectiveness of surveillance cameras used to combat crime.
According to Fox News, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to a report of a robbery around 9:05 p.m. on Thursday in the 8400 block of Santa Monica Boulevard. There, they spoke with Allen, who reported that two men dressed in black had approached him.
"One suspect pointed a silver handgun at the victim while the other pointed a knife and demanded the victim’s watch and bracelet," the sheriff's office said in a statement.
The assailants struck the actor in the forehead with the firearm and fled in a vehicle after taking his belongings. "The victim sustained a laceration to his forehead," the police statement added.
Personnel from the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene and assessed Allen's condition. According to authorities, the actor was not taken to a hospital.
"West Hollywood is not safe anymore"
After the assault, Allen posted a video on Instagram showing blood running down his face and staining his clothes. The actor explained that the masked men threatened to kill him during the robbery and claimed he could have lost his life over his belongings.

"West Hollywood is not safe anymore," Allen wrote in his post.
The actor also recounted what happened: "Robbed at gunpoint and knifepoint by two young men that threatened to KILL me over my watch and would have! God said no tonight. My life for a watch."
Allen also shared surveillance footage that appears to show the suspects approaching him in front of Laurel Supply, described in the report as a luxury grocery store in West Hollywood.
He questions Newsom and Bass's surveillance cameras
"Will update more soon. Let’s hope all these flock cameras that (Karen Bass), (Gavin Newsom) and everyone thinks will stop crime can find these very dangerous criminals. God bless," the actor wrote.
Allen refers to "Flock cameras" in reference to the surveillance systems that, according to his post, should help locate those responsible for the assault.
Bass's office responded to Fox News Digital and called the incident "outrageous." It also noted that the investigation is being led by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
"This is egregious — no one should have to experience something like this. West Hollywood is an independent city, and the LA County Sheriff's Department is responsible for leading this investigation. LAPD, as always, will assist regional partners as needed to ensure bad actors are held accountable," the statement said.
