The latest IPSOS poll indicated that just over half of Americans favor mass deportations of immigrants. Fifty-four percent of those surveyed indicated that are in favor of this measure, after the Biden-Harris administration has experienced enormous complications with immigration, especially at the southern border.

According to the survey data, 86% of Americans in favor of this measure against illegal immigration are registered Republican voters. Only 25% of them are Democrats and 58% are independents.

This data makes it clear that the anti-immigration rhetoric of Republican candidates has a strong hold among their voters, but also among those who might be undecided, while Democratic voters are openly against such mass deportations.

The poll also found that 39% of Americans claim that immigration is one of their top issues this election year, second only to inflation.

Related to this, 33% of respondents said protecting the U.S.-Mexico border should be the top immigration priority.

As for other measures, the majority of Americans are also in favor of local law enforcement having the power to detain illegal immigrants or suspected illegal immigrants. This power, traditionally reserved for the federal government, has sparked public debate since Texas pushed to make it a common practice.

Seventy perent of Americans also support limiting the number of asylum applications.
